The State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (SEADAE) is pleased to announce a significant opportunity for the field of arts education, the Arts Assessment Symposium, being held in Grapevine, Texas on November 11-12, 2016. As a national leader in arts education, SEADAE is well-positioned to attract leading professionals from around the nation to investigate innovation in arts assessment.

The Arts Assessment Symposium is a national forum that examines current practices and policies in arts assessment, providing a platform to learn from national arts assessment experts and researchers, classroom practitioners, and other State Department of Education personnel. A national request for proposals drew session applications from across the nation. The sessions selected were vetted and approved by SEADAE members so as to provide the most pertinent and valuable opportunities for attendees.
Sessions will explore such issues as:
• examining the impact of national, state and local policy on arts assessment
• investigating exemplary practices across a broad range of assessment types including formative, summative, diagnostic and student centered assessment
• utilizing technology based tools for delivering assessment and evaluating and documenting student learning
• responding to the changing needs and expectations of a 21st century student & education
• examining the Model Cornerstone Assessments as a model for creating authentic performance assessments tied to arts standards
Don’t miss this valuable opportunity for learning, sharing and expanding your knowledge of assessment in arts education. It is an opportunity for exchanging information, networking, and establishing new or re-igniting past connections. A special conference rate of $205.00 per day double occupancy has been negotiated at the conference hotel. To learn more click on the “Hotel and Travel” tab on the conference website. The conference website will also provide you with specifics on sessions, registration, conference pricing, and scheduling.
