SEADAE’s Marcia McCaffrey represents the states at the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics


On August 28, Marcia McCaffrey,  Marcia McCaffrey, New Hampshire Department of Education, President, State Education Association Directors of Arts Education, participated in a panel discussion on the importance of music and arts education. At the National Policy Forum on Music and the Arts, hosted by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, panelists addressed “What Works: Evidence-Based Programs and Practices” as they relate to music and arts education.

Panelists included: Deborah Delisle, Assistant Secretary, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, U.S. Department of Education; Laurie Schell, Director, Music Makes Us, Nashville Public Schools; John Abodeely, Deputy Director, President’s Council for the Arts and Humanities; Abel Lopez, President of the Board of Directors, Americans for the Arts; and  moderator Michael Butera, CEO, National Association for Music Education.
