SEADAE in the News

Michigan group cites SEADAE and NCCAS work
SEADAE's Ana Cardona shared the following news announcement from her state of Michigan:

Michigan Arts Education Instructional Blueprint and Assessments to
be Developed
The Michigan Arts Education Instruction and Assessment (MAEIA) program announces a partnership between the Michigan Assessment Consortium (MAC), Data Recognition Corporation (DRC), and the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). This partnership was established by MDE to develop several valuable resources and tools for Michigan’s elementary and secondary schools in response to needs identified by the 2012 Michigan Youth Arts Survey. The Survey gathered data from Michigan’s K-12 public school buildings on the key components of a comprehensive arts education; results from this survey were presented to the Michigan State Board of Education at its December 2012 meeting.

MAEIA will include an Arts Education Instructional Blueprint that will provide a detailed description of a high quality instructional program in the arts based on Michigan’s content standards. National arts education standards in development by the State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (SEADAE) and national association partners will also be used as the basis for the Blueprint’s standards of quality. MAEIA will also include an Audit Tool for districts to use in assessing the quality of their arts education.
